Kurume kasuri

Directly inspired by the ancestral Japanese art of weaving, the kasuri pouches reflect a unique traditional technique: instead of printing the patterns onto the fabric, the threads are dyed beforehand, prior to weaving. Each thread is dyed, then woven, for deep, long-lasting patterns.

This method gives kasuri patterns their slightly blurred edges, an aesthetic that is both distinctive and ancestral. Each pattern, with its softly faded outlines, tells a story of patience, precision and know-how handed down from generation to generation in the Okamoto Shoten workshop in Kurume.

The Robinson label

The new collection, two years in the waiting, arrived in November 2025 with a brand-new range of patterns and colours. Each pouch now carries the woven ROBINSON label – “Kurume Kasuri Textile · High Quality · Made in Japan” – and an embroidered ribbon zip pull reading “Kurume Kasuri Textile”.

Two sizes – S and M – and seven patterns: small crosses, arrows, undulating wave, dots, small dots, square dots and checks, in Navy/Blue, Navy/White or Blue/White. Sixteen SKUs in total.

Recommended retail price: €29.90 for the S pouch, €39.90 for the M pouch. Available to consumers on Maison Godillot and to retailers on the B2B portal.
